Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the Council of Europe (CoE) Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, in Strasbourg, France, the PM's staff informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

During the meeting, the reforms being implemented in Armenia in human rights, steps aimed at the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country, and the prospects for cooperation between Armenia and the CoE were discussed.

Pashinyan lauded the activities of the CoE Commissioner for Human Rights, and emphasized Armenia's readiness to continue close cooperation with the CoE in the strengthening of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

O'Flaherty, for his part, lauded the Armenian government’s commitment to human rights and the consistent steps taken to strengthen democracy in Armenia, and stressed that this contributes to the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.

The interlocutors discussed also the opportunities for expanding cooperation, and emphasized the importance of continued and constructive dialogue between Armenia and the Council of Europe.
