Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The Azerbaijani president’s recent statements about the “Zangezur corridor,” the capitulation of Armenia have caused discord also in the ruling [political] team [of Armenia]. The CC [i.e. the ruling Civil Contract Party and its parliamentary faction] elite has complained: after such statements, how can they tell [the Armenian] people that they have established peace, ‘come and vote for us.

How can they convince [them] that they have brought peace with the Washington agreement? They were reassured that [Azerbaijani president Ilham] Aliyev is making these statements for his internal audience. However, even after these assurances, the [respective] conversations in the CC have not stopped. The [CC] ranks are discussing various theories.

Some suspect that in reality another document was signed [in Washington DC on August 8] between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Aliyev simply allowed Pashinyan to present it as a peace agreement and go to the [parliamentary] election with it, as he probably wants more that Nikol that the CC be reproduced, so that after that all his plans can slowly become a reality. As for why in that case he is ruining Pashinyan's [popularity] rating with such statements, the CC has found an explanation for it also: he is blackmailing so that he gets more later.
