The heads of the railway companies of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan have signed a joint action plan for the development of the Middle Corridor.

During the New Silk Road business forum held in Kazakhstan, the heads of the railway companies of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia signed a joint action plan aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted operation of transit trains and further reducing their travel time, Channel One Georgia reported, citing Georgian Railways.

The company noted that the document was prepared based on the findings of a joint working group established by the three sides. These findings were derived from a physical inspection and analysis of processes along the entire transport corridor route, from Altynkol railway station in Kazakhstan to the Black Sea ports.

“The agreement envisions the elimination of existing constraints along the Middle Corridor — including infrastructure, operational, and logistical aspects, including the reduction of customs clearance times. The document sets specific deadlines for tasks and assigns responsibilities to designated officials. The joint action plan represents an important milestone in the development of the Middle Corridor,” the statement said.

According to Georgian Railways, this agreement will strengthen regional cooperation, ensure the full utilization of transit potential, and increase the amount of cargo between European and Asian markets.
