Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has clearly explained what Baku means by the term “Zangezur corridor.”

“The member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), thanks to their geographical location, are creating natural transport, logistics, and transit routes, serving as a bridge between Europe and Asia,” Bayramov said at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS.

“OTS member states have enormous potential in this direction. This route is also an integral part of the Middle Corridor. The statement on the TRIPP route made during the Washington summit — which will ensure unimpeded connectivity between the western regions of Azerbaijan and [its] Nakhchivan [exclave] via the Zangezur corridor — is also an important step from the viewpoint of diversifying connections in our region,” Bayramov said.

Thus, the “Zangezur corridor” can mean nothing other than a part of Armenia’s Syunik Province.

But earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had assumed that in Baku, the term “Zangezur corridor” might refer, for example, to the Horadiz–Zangilan motorway.
