The United States and Canada are working closely on the Iron Dome missile defense system, US President Donald Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

“That's the protective mechanism. And you see how that works. It's unbelievable,” the US president said.

According to Trump, one of his predecessors, the 40th president of the United States, Ronald Reagan, wanted to create an Iron Dome, but at that time they didn’t have the kind of technology that even comes close to what they have today.

They will work together toward creating an Iron Dome for both countries, and it will be very important, especially if you look at the world and what is happening. They want that kind of protection, the US president added.

On May 20, Trump had announced that the United States had made a decision regarding the architecture of its Iron Dome missile defense system. He had stated that the creation of this system would take a little less than three years. Washington proposes allocating approximately $175 billion for it.
