The US Senate has approved the country’s military spending for 2026, amounting to more than $900 billion.

On October 1, the respective bill—with a budget of $925 billion—was approved by the Pentagon. A total of 77 lawmakers had voted in favor of this bill, while 20 had voted against it. Also, the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) will be extended until 2028, with its funding expanded to $500 million.

The program stipulates that the Pentagon will sign contracts with manufacturers rather than directly supplying equipment from American arsenals. In September, it was reported that the US House of Representatives had approved the country’s military spending for 2026 at nearly $900 billion, including $400 million in aid to Ukraine.

Lawmakers have added a provision to this bill requiring the Pentagon to inform them if the US administration decides to cancel or suspend aid to Ukraine previously approved by Congress.
