Russia supports holding the fourth ministerial meeting of the 3+3 regional consultative platform before the end of 2025. Work is currently underway on its organizing, Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin said during a meeting with students at the Russian-Armenian University, Sputnik Armenia reports.

“We [i.e. Russia] are currently in contact with Armenia and Azerbaijan, since there is the matter of succession. The Armenian and Azerbaijani sides are ready to host such a meeting; they need to coordinate the succession, and of course, we are also assisting in every possible way,” the Russian diplomat said.

According to the ambassador, all participants of this platform, who maintain communication with the Turkish and Iranian sides, believe that it is a useful and relevant format, and that the countries of the region themselves should play an important role in resolving regional issues.

“This is our principled position, and our partners share it. Of course, the participation of third countries can be valuable, but it must be based on an understanding of the realities and interests of the regional players,” the Russian diplomat added.

Also, he noted that many issues being discussed within the framework of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations or Armenian-American dialogue inevitably affect the interests of other neighboring countries, which is why the 3+3 platform is becoming an objectively demanded mechanism for multilateral dialogue.

Kopyrkin noted that this format is functioning and that three meetings have already taken place. Regarding Georgia’s participation, he said that this country initially expressed interest at the expert level and took part in one of its events, but later withdrew. Nevertheless, the Russian ambassador to Armenia stressed that all other participants in this platform agree that the door remains open for Georgia.
