US President Donald Trump held on to French leader Emmanuel Macron’s hand for an extended time during the photo session at the peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, which was convened to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and release all Israeli hostages held there, HuffPost reports.

Trump was shaking hands in the usual manner with other heads of state and government until the moment Macron entered the hall. The handshake between these two leaders lasted 27 seconds. At first, the presidents simply shook hands and exchanged a light embrace; but then both tried to pull their colleague’s hand toward themselves.

When the French leader attempted to free himself from the US president’s grip, Trump began to hold him even tighter. According to HuffPost, this prompted Macron to grab his counterpart’s forearm — and that ended the handshake.
