The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan has explained the reason for postponing the visit to the country by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Chairperson-in-Office, Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen.

Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson of the MFA of Azerbaijan, told APA that Valtonen’s regional visit was supposed to begin in Azerbaijan.

“This visit was scheduled for October 13. However, the visit has been postponed due to [Azerbaijani] President Ilham Aliyev’s invitation to Middle East peace summit and the participation of the delegation led  by him in that summit. Work is currently underway to agree on a new date for the Finnish foreign minister’s visit to Azerbaijan,” Hajizada explained.

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Elina Valtonen on Tuesday met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in the Armenian capital Yerevan. Her visit to Georgia is also planned.
