As part of his visit to the Holy See, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with His Holiness Pope Levon XIV.

The Pope welcomed Prime Minister Pashinyan’s visit to the Vatican and his participation in the canonization ceremony of Archbishop Ignatius Maloyan and six other blesseds. He emphasized the close ties between the Holy See and Armenia, particularly highlighting the role of the Mekhitarist Congregation of Venice in strengthening these relations.

Prime Minister Pashinyan once again congratulated His Holiness on his election as Pope of Rome, wishing him strength and success in fulfilling the demanding and responsible mission of his sacred office. He expressed confidence that under Pope Levon XIV’s leadership, the tradition of close dialogue between the Holy See and Armenia will continue, as well as the consistent attention shown to matters of importance to Armenia.

During the meeting, regional issues were also discussed. The interlocutors addressed the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and touched upon humanitarian concerns. His Holiness congratulated the parties on the progress made and expressed hope that achieving peace in the region would mark the beginning of a new phase of cooperation and stability.

Prime Minister Pashinyan reaffirmed the Armenian Government’s commitment to the peace agenda, for the benefit of Armenia and the prosperity and sustainable development of the region.
