After receiving no satisfactory response from the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or the Russian Embassy, truck drivers blocked the Bagratashen customs checkpoint with their vehicles, NEWS.am was informed by driver Gevorg Sargsyan.

They are demanding negotiations with Russia to amend the legislation, which currently allows foreign citizens to stay in Russia for up to 90 days per year instead of the previous 180 days. According to Article 115 of the Russian Federal Law, the regulation was tightened on September 10, limiting foreign citizens’ stay in Russia to 90 days per year.

The truck drivers argue that this provision should not apply to them or to drivers transporting passengers, as limiting their stay to only 90 days forces them to wait at the “Verin Lars” (Upper Lars) checkpoint.
