A new phase of peace has started between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Achieving a preliminary peace agreement less than two years after the last clashes demonstrates that both countries have shown a high level of political will.

According to APA from Astana, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks during his speech at the second session of the Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan High Intergovernmental Council.

“Of course, the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia deserves the highest recognition. The summit held in Washington on August 8 effectively ended the long-standing conflict and opens significant prospects for development, including in a broader regional and Eurasian context,” Aliyev said.
