During his visit to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev outlined the approximate timeline for opening the so-called “Zangezur Corridor.”

According to Azerbaijani media, Aliyev intends to open the route by the end of 2028.

“In addition to the projects we are currently planning and implementing, the Zangezur Corridor project also holds enormous potential. All road and rail work within Azerbaijan’s territory will be completed by mid-next year. We hope that construction in other countries’ territories will progress at the same pace, and in that case, the corridor could open by the end of 2028,” Aliyev said.

The statement indicates that Aliyev uses the term “Zangezur Corridor” for the entire length of the route, referring to sections outside Azerbaijan simply as “other countries’ territories,” rather than explicitly mentioning Armenia.
