Preparatory work for the upcoming summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump in Budapest, Hungary, has been “suspended,” NBC News correspondent Garrett Haake reported.

“A senior White House official told me that preparations for the Trump–Putin summit in Budapest are currently ‘on hold.’ The initial phone call between U.S. Secretary of State Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov was described as ‘productive,’ but the President believes that both sides are not yet sufficiently prepared for negotiations to justify moving forward at this time,” Haake said.
