Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially ratified the law on Iran’s accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism and informed the relevant executive authorities.

According to the Mehr news agency, in a letter dated October 21, Pezeshkian notified the executive bodies about the law previously passed by the Iranian Parliament on joining the international convention “On Combating the Financing of Terrorism.”

The letter was addressed to the judiciary, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Intelligence, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Central Bank of Iran.

The presidential decree notes that, according to Article 123 of the Iranian Constitution, the law—initially approved by Parliament in December 2018 and later amended with certain modifications and reservations—was confirmed by the Expediency Council.

It also states that, according to Article 125 of the Constitution, the implementation of the provisions of this treaty will depend on fulfilling the formalities specified in Article 26 of the Convention.
