Russia has received security guarantees to restore external electricity supply to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

RIA Novosti reported that, following complex consultations, Kyiv provided the necessary security assurances for the regular external power supply to the plant.

“After lengthy and difficult consultations, we were able to obtain security guarantees from Ukraine, without which restoring the damaged power line would have been impossible,” the ministry stated.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, on September 23, a Dnipro power transmission line support structure supplying external electricity to the Zaporizhzhia NPP was damaged by a strike from the Ukrainian armed forces. The plant’s own electricity was supplied by backup diesel generators.
