NATO wants an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine without any preconditions, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told reporters during his visit to Washington.

“Yes, stop where you are — that is our main message,” Rutte said in response to a question on whether NATO supports an unconditional ceasefire.

He framed this position as aligned with that of U.S. President Donald Trump, adding, “The [U.S.] president himself said on Sunday: stop where you are. We will discuss this today.”

Rutte effectively confirmed his intention to discuss with Trump the European NATO countries’ vision for halting the conflict. At the same time, he emphasized that NATO members have already purchased $2 billion worth of weapons for Ukraine and plan to intensify these efforts.
