France’s Chief of Staff, General Fabien Mandon, stated on Wednesday that Russia “may be inclined to continue the war on our continent,” according to Le Figaro.

Since taking command of the French armed forces on September 1, Mandon has emphasized that he has instructed the army to “be prepared for a conflict three to four years from now.”

“Russia is a country that may try to continue the war on our continent, and that is a decisive factor in what I am preparing,” the French general added.

According to General Mandon, Moscow has an idea of Europe’s collective weakness, while he perceives “Russia’s unrestrained use of force.”

He also noted that Europeans surpass Russia economically, demographically, and industrially. “Russia cannot intimidate us if we are willing to defend ourselves,” the general said.

It is worth recalling that last week, Martin Heger, head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service, warned of the real risk of a military conflict with Russia.
