On Wednesday, three individuals were arrested in France following the release of a video containing threats against former President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is currently imprisoned, reports BFMTV.

The prosecution stated that the video, “clearly filmed by a prisoner threatening Nicolas Sarkozy,” was circulated on social media, prompting an investigation.

During a search, authorities seized two phones from the prisoner who recorded the video.

According to a source close to Sarkozy, BFMTV reports that the former French president is expected to file a civil lawsuit if the case proceeds.

Since Tuesday, Nicolas Sarkozy has been held at the Santé prison in Paris in connection with allegations that Libya financed his 2007 presidential campaign.
