On October 21 in Ottawa, His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great See of Cilicia, met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, with representatives of the Armenian National Committee of Canada participating.

During the discussion, several key issues were addressed, including Armenia’s sovereignty, the right of Artsakh Armenians to return to Artsakh, protection of endangered Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh, the release of Armenian prisoners illegally held in Baku, as well as prospects for establishing peace in the Middle East.

The meeting reflects the deep partnership between the Canadian authorities and the Canadian-Armenian community, based on human rights, mutual respect, and shared values.

The Catholicos was accompanied by His Grace Archbishop Babken Arak. Chahinian, Primate of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada; Raffi Tonpetian, member of the ARF Bureau and representative in the National Assembly of the Great See of Cilicia; Horen Timityan, president of the Armenian National Committee of Canada; and others.
