As part of its 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, the European Union has imposed restrictions on four Chinese companies. This is stated in a Council of the EU decision published in the Official Journal of the EU.
The sanctions target Tianjin Xishanfusheng International Trading, Liaoyang Petrochemical Company, Chinaoil Corporation, and Shandong Yulong Petrochemical. The measures include freezing the companies’ assets within the EU and prohibiting the provision of funds or economic resources to them. The EU justifies the move by citing these companies’ links to the Russian energy sector, which “provides a significant source of revenue” for the Russian government, and their alleged role in helping circumvent existing restrictions.
