On October 23, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova addressed questions regarding problems faced by Armenian truck drivers during a briefing.

An Armenian journalist asked: “As you know, recent migration changes in Russia have caused serious issues in EAEU countries for truck drivers and freight carriers. In Armenia, there have even been protests, with drivers blocking checkpoints. I’d like to know if there have been any changes or solutions that would allow truck drivers to resume their work in Russia.”

Zakharova responded: “Judging by the protests in Armenia—not only by truck drivers but on other issues as well, and much larger in scale—it seems this is not the only problem there. Regarding the truck driver issue, it is being addressed by the relevant Russian authorities, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Transport. If you have a specific question, we can forward it to these agencies.”

The journalist emphasized that the main concern is when a solution will be found, as the situation poses serious problems not only for Armenian drivers.

Zakharova replied: “Of course, everyone aims for a speedy resolution. I’m afraid no one can provide an exact date, but I can check with our colleagues and provide a more detailed response if available.”
