Russian President Vladimir Putin has described the U.S. sanctions as an unfriendly action that does not strengthen Russian-American relations, RIA Novosti reported.

"If we talk about the political aspect, of course, this is an unfriendly attitude toward Russia — that’s obvious. And this action does not strengthen Russian-American relations, which had only just begun to recover," Putin told reporters.

A day earlier, the United States announced a new package of anti-Russian sanctions, including measures against Rosneft, Lukoil, and their subsidiaries. Moreover, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had canceled his planned meeting with Putin in Budapest, though he still intends to meet with him in the future.
