U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the end of all trade negotiations with Canada, accusing the Canadian government of using a false advertisement. He made the announcement on the social media platform TruthSocial.
According to the American leader, Canada circulated a false advertisement in which former U.S. President Ronald Reagan made negative comments about trade tariffs.
"Due to their inappropriate behavior, all trade negotiations with Canada are being terminated," Trump wrote.
In September, Canada’s Minister of Global Affairs announced the start of a new phase of public consultations regarding the Canada–Mexico–U.S. trade agreement (CUSMA).
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that Canada and Mexico remain committed to their partnership with the United States and are interested in making the three-country free trade agreement fairer and more efficient.
