The Kremlin views the situation regarding talks on Ukraine as a prolonged pause, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

He emphasized that this pause has arisen due to Kyiv’s unwillingness to intensify dialogue.

Peskov added that Putin, like Trump, does not rule out holding an RF–US summit in the future.

“Neither Putin nor Trump want to meet just for the sake of a meeting and waste time; preparation is needed for it to be productive,” the Russian presidential press secretary stressed.

He also said that Moscow is analyzing the new sanctions against Russia.

Regarding Russia’s response, Peskov noted that Russia acts not against anyone, but for its own benefit, and that is what it will continue to do.

Peskov stated that Kyiv’s unwillingness to continue dialogue is being encouraged by European overseers. “Putin’s statement on responding to possible Tomahawk strikes is clear and comprehensive; there is nothing to clarify here,” he concluded.
