A delegation from Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis will not participate in the 12th Ordinary Session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly to be held on October 28-30 in Yerevan, Armenia,.

Delegation head Tahir Mirkishili told APA news agency that the European Parliament’s documents and statements, which make up half of the Euronest PA’s activities, contradict Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to him, such statements do not contribute to the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia but, on the contrary, serve the interests of forces seeking to maintain confrontation. The Milli Majlis has repeatedly expressed its protest, and following the recent peace meeting in Washington, the European Parliament’s latest unconstructive statement has completely undermined Baku’s confidence in cooperation within the framework of Euronest, Mirkishili noted.

He stressed that Azerbaijan’s refusal to participate in this Euronest PA session is not related to it being held in Armenia: “Today, peace has already been established between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and practical steps are being taken toward normalizing relations,” Mirkishili said.
