From November 27 to December 2, during his first apostolic journey outside Italy, Pope Leo XIV will visit Turkey and Lebanon on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, the Vatican press office reports.

On Monday, the Holy See published the schedule of the Pope’s trip, which will begin in Turkey on November 27.

Upon arriving in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, the Pope will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan before addressing Turkish authorities, representatives of civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps.

On November 29, Pope Leo will have a private meeting with the leaders of local churches and Christian communities in Istanbul. On November 30—the Feast of Saint Andrew the Apostle—the Pope’s program will begin with a prayer visit to the Mother Cathedral of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Later that same morning, Pope Leo will attend the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George. After the liturgy and the ecumenical blessing, the Pope will have lunch with the Ecumenical Patriarch.
