Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity Alois Rainer, during his official visit to Germany, Armenia’s Ministry of Economy informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
During the meeting, Minister Papoyan emphasized the importance of the activities of two German agencies — the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW) — in Armenia. He added that tangible progress has already been recorded in the modernization of irrigation systems, the use of renewable energy in rural communities, and the improvement of the qualifications of agricultural specialists of Armenia.
Also, Papoyan presented the investment policy concept developed by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, the export strategy, as well as Armenia’s vision for promoting smart, climate-resilient, and resource-efficient agriculture.
“Armenia deeply values the partnership established with Germany, which is based on the values of sustainability, innovation, and mutual prosperity. I am convinced that today’s meeting will open new prospects in agriculture, rural development, export diversification, and regional connectivity. Together, we can build a more competitive, sustainable, and advanced agricultural sector,” concluded the Armenian economy minister.
Subsequently, the interlocutors exchanged views on several matters of mutual interest.
