Following the results of the parliamentary elections in the Netherlands, Ani Zalinyan has won a parliamentary seat, becoming the first Armenian member of the country’s legislature, the Nederlandse Dagblad website reports.

On this significant occasion, Zalinyan received congratulations from a number of Armenian organizations and individuals.

Ani Zalinyan was nominated by the GroenLinks–PvdA alliance. Her election symbolizes important progress in national diversity and inclusion in the Dutch political landscape.

The parliamentary elections in the Netherlands were held on Wednesday.

According to preliminary data, the elections were won by the Democrats 66 party, and they will receive 27 of the 150 seats in parliament.

The far-right Freedom Party, which received only a few tenths of a percent less in votes, will also receive 27 seats.

The third place goes to the right-liberal People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, which will receive 22 seats in parliament.

The GroenLinks–PvdA alliance, through which Ani Zalinyan obtained her parliamentary mandate, will hold 20 seats in parliament. In the previous elections, this alliance had 25 seats in the Dutch legislature.
