Armenia is considering the possibility of jointly submitting an application to UNESCO with Iran. The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, announced this during the debates on the 2026 state budget draft of Armenia at the joint meeting of the standing committees of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

“We are preparing two applications, one of which we intend to submit to UNESCO,” Andreasyan said.

She noted that one of these applications is “The Tradition of Winemaking in the Areni Community,” and the other is “The Tradition of Water and Rain Worship.” The latter is planned to be submitted jointly with Iran next year.
