We have an answer regarding the matter of our compatriots in captivity, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in parliament Wednesday.

He assured that the Armenian authorities are working on this matter every day. He believes that the more favorable the environment between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the easier it will be to resolve this issue.

Pashinyan added that peace will resolve all other matters, many, many matters. “If there is a viewpoint that this issue must be resolved in order for the peace issue to be resolved. I also say that the more favorable the environment between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the easier this matter will be resolved. It is a perspective issue. It is not absolute. It is a living process. If we were guided by the logic described above, we would not have reached the current point of peace. We are trying to demonstrate as flexible an approach as possible, flexible approaches that at this moment maximally correspond to Armenia’s national interests,” he emphasized.

Nikol Pashinyan reiterated that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev claimed that Lake Sevan was not named on the maps of Tsarist Russia and had another name. “But I say that there is ‘Armenia’ on the same maps, whereas there is no ‘Azerbaijan.’ What does that mean?” the Armenian PM concluded.
