No concrete agreements exist regarding scenarios for the Ardzvashen enclave, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in parliament Wednesday.

He assured that no representative of Armenia can renounce sovereign territories and the agenda of restoring territorial integrity, and his post on social media has confirmed the obvious.

Pashinyan believes that the Ardzvashen issue can be resolved through a border delimitation process. “We [i.e. Armenia] have also said that we already adhere to our written commitments taken on, we directly exclude any forceful scenarios,” he added.

According to him, the border delimitation should restore the outline of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan—and based on the Alma-Ata Declaration. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that after that, all possible combinations and variations will be discussed.

“It is being discussed that in the case of the same Ardzvashen, it is better to go to other scenarios. No one can go with other scenarios without the expression of the will of the people of Armenia. If it’s about a territorial exchange, it cannot be done without the position of Armenia’s citizens. Even if it’s not about a direct referendum, still, it simply cannot happen without the consent of Armenia’s citizens,” the Armenian PM concluded.
