The package of negotiation documents on Nagorno-Karabakh will be published after the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group by the end of the year, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters in parliament Wednesday.

“The owner of that package is not only us [i.e. Armenia],” Pashinyan repeated. He stated that the OSCE Minsk Group is expected to be dissolved by the end of the year, the moral and political barrier will disappear, and the documents will be published freely. Pashinyan assured that this decision has no impact on the Armenian parliamentary elections slated for next June.

Pashinyan added that Armenia has already had guarantors, and it was precisely the perceptions about that guarantor that created the existing problems. “As for the talk that Armenia’s three former presidents wanted to head for Russia in the name of the [Armenian] authorities for negotiations during the 44-day war — I provided them with a plane. And what should I have told my Russian colleagues so that they would receive them the way they would receive me? That is, should I have told them that those three are the prime ministers of Armenia? Should I have told them that a triumvirate has been formed in Armenia, and that I am no longer the prime minister of Armenia and these three are the prime ministers of Armenia? I said: ‘Take the plane on which ‘Armenia’ is written and fly.’ Let them have fly,” the Armenian premier said.

Also, Nikol Pashinyan expressed readiness to familiarize reporters — but without cameras—with the weapons purchased by Armenia. He remarked that there is criticism claiming that Armenia is reducing defense spending and that the authorities have disarmed the army. “Why are we able to acquire that weaponry now, and not before? The most important of the points is that our strategies are now based on legitimacy. Back then, people told us transparently — with all due respect, but they could not sell us weapons, because they had no guarantee that we would not use those weapons beyond the needs related to our sovereign territory,” the Armenian premier concluded.
