Most of the news websites operating in the Armenian domain have been inaccessible or operating with disruptions for about 30 minutes. The reason is the problem with Cloudflare, IT security expert Samvel Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“There is a platform called Cloudflare, which is against hacker attacks. Since the Armenian press has been under similar attacks—mainly from Azerbaijan—since the early 2010s, that is why everyone is relying on Cloudflare. Cloudflare now has a problem all over the world. In fact, it turns out that all the websites that were under its protection have become inaccessible. This is a global problem; it’s not just us [i.e. Armenia]. About a quarter of the world's websites are under their protection. I have been recording the disruption for at least half an hour. We need to wait until it is resolved,” Martirosyan noted.

When asked if this could be the result of a hacker attack, Martirosyan did not rule it out.

“Theoretically, why not? It’s just that there is no such basis for making such a claim at this time,” Samvel Martirosyan noted.
