A US delegation headed by State Department senior advisor Jonathan Askonas arrived in Tbilisi and was received by Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Georgian Government Administration, Georgia Online reports.
Askonas is in Georgia for discussions about how Georgia can support the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a transportation route resulting from the August 8 peace summit between Armenia and Azerbaijan that was mediated by the United States.
At the meeting, the potential positive impact of TRIPP on the region was noted, in terms of creating security guarantees by the US for the movement of cargo. Attention was drawn to the importance of the Trump administration’s efforts in establishing peace in the region. In addition, Georgia’s role in helping to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan was positively assessed, the released statement said.
