The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has also issued an official statement on the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Russian-Armenian-Azerbaijani summit declaration on a complete ceasefire and an end to all military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at Thursday’s press briefing.

She made this statement in response to a request to comment on a number of interviews published in Armenian and Azerbaijani media on the fifth anniversary of the ceasefire agreement in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

“Detailed information has been provided both on the events at that time and on our country’s overall contribution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani reconciliation process. Our country’s position on this matter is characterized by sincerity and consistency. By the way, we [i.e. Russia] regularly comment on this matter during press briefings and answer questions. Our efforts are aimed at achieving sustainable peace and prosperity in the region.

I would like to remind that thanks to the personal efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin, we succeeded in stopping the bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh both in 2020 and in 2023. It is clear that the trilateral agreements have not lost their relevance today as well. On the contrary, they continue to form the ‘roadmap’ for the peace process between Baku and Yerevan. And we [i.e. Russia] are ready to continue providing our partners with the assistance they need to achieve a mutually acceptable solution in the interest of the South Caucasus countries and their neighbors,” added the Russian MFA spokesperson.
