Armenia and Azerbaijan are in much better shape than Georgia, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said in an interview with RFE/RL’s European service.

It is clear that he is not naive about what is happening in Georgia, Rutte said. They are very concerned, and he has made that clear to the Georgians, he added. They are cooperating with them, and cooperation itself is a goal to ensure that they also have that channel to clarify their concerns, the NATO chief said.

Rutte added that there is a need to look at all of this a bit more holistically, because there is Georgia, but there is also what is happening between Armenia and Azerbaijan which, according to him, seem to be in much better shape, including thanks to the actions of US President Trump, the NATO Secretary General said. Therefore, Rutte added, he would also consider Georgia in the context of the entire South Caucasus.
