The FBI has presumably identified the suspect in the attack on the two US National Guard soldiers, several law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation told CNN.

According to them, the preliminary identity of the shooter matches that of a man from Washington state who apparently immigrated there from Afghanistan in August 2021, according to the BBC.

One source said US authorities have checked the fingerprints of the detainee, but are still working to confirm his identity.

The suspect may be of Afghan origin, CBS reported. According to its sources, he is 29 years old.
