At the Cabinet session of the Armenian government Thursday, a draft decision was approved to make amendments and additions to a previous government decision, according to which first-year university students from families forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia will also receive tuition reimbursement in the 2025/26 academic year.

In particular, this reimbursement will be provided to about 240 students admitted to state higher educational institutions (bachelor’s level, full-time, tuition-based) and about 75 students admitted to the first year of vocational and middle-professional education institutions of Armenia in the 2025/26 academic year.

Under this decision, these university students will receive reimbursement until the completion of the given educational level, provided they maintain a semester GPA of 75 percent or higher, while students of vocational and middle-professional institutions will receive reimbursement if they have no less than 50 percent “excellent” and “good” grades based on the results of the previous semester.

Under this regulation, up to now reimbursement has been provided to students from families forcibly displaced from Karabakh who were enrolled in tuition-based programs at Armenia’s universities before September 19, 2023, as well as those admitted to full-time programs at state universities of Armenia in the 2024/25 academic year.

Overall, about 870 such students enrolled in higher and postgraduate educational programs in Armenia will receive tuition reimbursement in the 2025/26 academic year, provided they meet the required academic performance threshold.
