Azerbaijan has once again made an absurd demand to settle 300,000 Azerbaijanis in Armenia. The announcement to that effect was made at the 3rd International Conference held in Azerbaijani capital Baku, and themed “Cultural heritage and the right to return: Restoration of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis displaced from Armenia as a path to justice, reconciliation, and peace.”

“The Western Azerbaijan community is an organization that unites thousands of people who have been expelled from Armenia in phases over the last 200 years,” said Aziz Alakbarov, chairman of the board of this “Azerbaijan community” created by Azerbaijani authorities. According to him, the goal of this organization is to ensure “the return to the homeland for more than 300,000 [Azerbaijani] refugees who were forcibly removed from their historical places of residence [in Armenia].”

Azerbaijan has set its sights on Armenia’s southernmost Syunik Province. And if the Armenian authorities agree to these adventurous demands, Azerbaijan’s next step will be an attempt to seize “Zangezur.” Azerbaijan reinforces its claims with “historical facts” imprinted by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
