The "Zangezur corridor” has strategic significance not only for the Turkic states, but also for the entire region, as well as beyond its borders. Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, told this to reporters in Azerbaijani capital Baku, on the margins of the first meeting of the labor and social protection ministers of the OTS countries.

Omuraliev noted that the “Zangezur corridor” is one of the key routes of the ancient Silk Road and ensures a direct western outlet for the Turkic states. “From this perspective, the corridor is important not only for Azerbaijan and the Turkic world, but also for the entire region, including the West, Europe, and even Armenia. In this context, I laud the agreement reached in Washington in August between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia; it has become a historic step," added the OTS secretary general.
