The cenobites of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem of the Armenian Apostolic Church express full support for the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and for the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, elected by the National Ecclesiastical Assembly. The commemoration of the Catholicos’ name during the Dive Liturgies of the Armenian Apostolic Church is also a legal requirement of that same assembly, the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem noted in a statement.

“The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, according to the RA [i.e. the Republic of Armenia] Constitution is a self-governing institution and is separate from the [Armenian] state. The current [Armenian] government’s interference in the activity of the [Armenian Apostolic] church contradicts the Constitutional order,” the statement also says.

The aforesaid cenobites appeal to the Catholicos, asking him to convene a National Ecclesiastical Assembly to examine the resolution to the current situation.
