Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan explained on Facebook why he is proposing that the national anthem of Armenia be played in Armenian Apostolic Churches before the liturgy.

The premier titled the respective video “The supreme state and the Republic of Armenia.”

According to him, the presence of the national flag of Armenia at the entrance of or inside Armenian Apostolic Churches in the country—which is a common practice in a number of countries—should also become a subject of discussion.

Pashinyan on Sunday had written as follows on Facebook: “In 301, the Armenian Apostolic Church was created by the [Armenian] state, by decision of the [Armenian] state. I think it would be right for choirs in all [Armenian Apostolic] churches to perform the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia before Sunday liturgies, at 10:55.”
