The US, following an agreement between Washington and Tehran, has deported about 50 Iranian citizens from the country, anonymous Iranian officials have said, The New York Times (NYT) reports.
According to their data, the plane carrying these Iranian nationals took off from an airport in the US state of Arizona, and on its route it will make stops in Egypt and Kuwait.
This flight is the second such case this year. The first plane carrying about 100 deported Iranians had left the US in September.
In addition to Iranians, the plane also carries citizens of Russia and Arab countries, who will disembark during the stopover in Cairo.
Approximately 2,000 Iranian nationals are awaiting deportation from the US, the NYT added.
