I am not ready to comment at this phase. Later, I believe there will be a comment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters Wednesday—and responding to a reporter’s remark regarding concerns from Azerbaijan about the new Armenia-European Union (EU) document.

Regarding whether the respective statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan could delay the signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Simonyan replied: “I don’t think so because work in all directions with Azerbaijan continues. And I must say that this positive attitude exists both on our side and on Azerbaijan’s side. And I must say that the concerns expressed at us may perhaps be phrased slightly differently in Azerbaijan as well. Therefore, we must continue the discussions to dispel each other’s concerns, and to follow the path of restoring trust, which I think will not be easy, but is feasible.”

And on a timeframe for signing the peace agreement, the NA speaker said: “Talking about timeframes is an ungrateful task. We [i.e. Armenia] have been ready to sign [the peace agreement] for a long time; we are ready to sign that agreement now, and the discussions in this regard continue also because it is obvious that the conflict, as such, no longer exists, there are no conditions, no prerequisites for conflict, and there cannot be any. In all countries there are some issues that they discuss. We [i.e. Armenia] are ready and able to discuss our issues jointly with our neighbors.”

The Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership was signed following the 6th meeting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council held on December 2, in Brussels.
