The West is waiting for the unblocking of roads, and Armenia has become interesting for the world after the establishment of peace, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan told reporters Thursday.

According to the minister, the PM-led Armenian delegation’s agenda during the recent meetings with the president and chancellor of Germany was mainly the economy.

“Both in Berlin, when we were meeting with the German Eastern Business Association, and in Hamburg, when we were meeting with a group of [German] businesspeople, everyone was interested in when the Armenia–Turkey border will open, when the Armenia–Azerbaijan border will open, because there are numerous programs in Europe related to Central Asia, related to China,” Papoyan said.

“The logic of these programs is that all these goods must come and go through the Middle Corridor. One route, if it is Azerbaijan–Georgia–the Black Sea, the other route — I am conveying their words — they see as Azerbaijan–Armenia–Turkey–the Mediterranean Sea, or through Turkey to Europe,” he added.

“From this perspective, I want to note that we had very important discussions, we discussed various programs, including, for example, the possibility of transporting green hydrogen that they proposed, because they are now implementing very large programs in that context, and all of this is connected with the Crossroads of Peace, TRIPP, and the possibility of unblocking roads. And I should note that the West, like us, is waiting for the unblocking of those roads,” the Armenian economy minister said.
