Venezuela has reinforced its national defense system due to threats of military intervention. President Nicolas Maduro stated this during the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) summit, held via videoconference.

"Venezuela has faced 25 weeks of psychological terrorism — threats of military invasion, pirate attacks, and the seizure of ships carrying Venezuelan oil, along with the complete disruption of legitimate and diplomatic channels of coexistence in Latin America and the Caribbean in recent days," Maduro said on Venezolana de Television.

He added that Venezuela has " refined and improved the vision of the national defense system."

The US accuses the Venezuelan authorities of insufficient action in combating the illegal circulation of drugs.
