YEREVAN. - The U.S. is not ready for land operations against Iran, expert on Iranian Studies Vardan Voskanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, Iran’s statements first of all refer to the small monarchies in the Persian Gulf, which have a clear anti-Iranian disposition. It is Bahrain with the U.S. naval base. Azerbaijan should not be ruled out as well. Despite it does not officially support attack on Iran, in case of military actions, it will provide its territory for running operations. Afterwards it is Turkey, where it is decided to deploy warning radar. These are the three main regions, from where Iran can expect attack.
As for the U.S., the expert highly doubts that it may be engaged in war with Iran at this stage. There are many objective and subjective reasons including pre-election situation and lack of real opportunities for running ground operations.
“Bomb and missile attacks are not enough to achieve the goal. Iranian nuclear objects will not suffer great losses, according to experts, ground operations are necessary, while the U.S. is not ready for it,” the expert said adding stability in Iran and peace in the region is key priorities for Armenia.
