US military forces struck another vessel transporting drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, as a result of which one of its crew members was killed, the US Southern Command reported on Tuesday.

The statement notes that one person on board the vessel was killed.

There were no casualties among the US servicepersons.

According to calculations by US media, at least 105 people have been killed as a result of US strikes, as part of Operation Southern Spear, on vessels suspected of transporting drugs. The objective of this operation is to reduce drug trafficking.

The US has for several months been carrying out a pressure campaign against Venezuela, which includes the deployment of thousands of US troops and an aircraft carrier strike group to the Caribbean Sea, strikes on alleged drug traffickers, and numerous threats against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
