The railway sections reaching the borders of Turkey and Azerbaijan are under the concession of Russia, and I have expressed Armenia's readiness to take them under the country's ownership and restore them with state budget funds if it turns out that Russia has problems, or sees problems with the timely restoration of these sections. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a press briefing Thursday.

Pashinyan noted that Armenia is ready to take such a step if obstacles arise. The premier emphasized that in the first phase, Armenia considers it important to start the restoration of the Tavush Province railway, including the Ijevan city’s railway station. The head of the Armenian government attached importance also to the restoration of the Akhurik village section of the railway on the border of Armenia and Turkey, as well as the railway from Yeraskh village station to the border of Azerbaijan’s Nakhichevan exclave.

Furthermore, Armenian PM expressed hope that the Russian partners will carry out this work as quickly as possible, reaffirming that he discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the positive changes taking place in the region, as well as the opportunities they create for the development of relations between Armenia and Russia, as well as for the Eurasian Economic Union.
